There are many enjoyable games to play online. Many would suggest that the best games are strategy online games. A strategy game is one where the players exercise their decision making skills by the use of strategic principles. The way in which a player wisely makes his decision largely determines the outcome of strategy online games. Popular board games chess, checkers and chinese checkers are all examples of strategy games. Traditionally they have all been board games played off line but these days they are played online by many game enthusiast.
A strategy game online is different from many other games by being based on ability rather than being left to chance or luck. All players having an equal knowledge of the way the game is played have the ability to win as long as they make wise decisions and work out ways of defeating their opponent. Of course it is relatively easy for a knowledgeable or experienced player to easily defeat an opponent who is inexperienced or less intelligent. Being online there is no physical skill needed only the intelligence to play the game and setting up appropriate interactions with the pieces within the game. A common elements in these games is being able to set up traps for opponents. Sometimes it comes down to waiting to ambush your enemy.
There are a multitude of strategy online games. To name them could take ages. The word "strategy" comes from military jargon. Originally it referred to planning at a very high level and often strategy games deal with planning on a smaller scale for which the word "tactics" is used in a military context. Naturally taking into account the origin of terms many of these games are war games that have you fighting in some geographical zone such as a jungle or township. Another popular strategy game online scenario is the business world where there is a lot of wheeling and dealing. Whether the game be war or business the main goal remains consistent which is to take advantage of any weaknesses your opponent might have.
There are a number of advantages in playing a strategy games. These games improve a person's reasoning powers and teaches such qualities as patience and perseverance. Strategy games online games are also able to release stress and tension. For the typical person releasing tensions while playing an enjoyable strategy game online is a worthwhile hobby.
Some strategy games have nothing to do with violence at all. Rather they focus more on reasoning and negotiating skills instead. Some of us, maybe most of us, will never be in the boardroom of a multinational corporation working out the key details to a leveraged buyout. Such an online game can give us insight in to the ability required to do so. Indeed, could also teach us the skills to do it better than anybody else.
Strategy online games generally take one of four archetypal forms, depending on whether the game is turn-based or real-time and whether the game's focus is upon military strategy or tactics. Examples of popular online strategy games are the Age of Empires, Command and Conquer, Starcraft and Total War. |
